President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with President Isaias Afwerki of Eritrea at Al-Ittihadiya Palace, where they participated in an official reception ceremony that included the national anthem and inspection of the guards of honor. President El-Sisi welcomed President Afwerki’s visit to Egypt.
Both Presidents expressed a desire to strengthen bilateral relations and enhance cooperation in economic, commercial, and security areas. They discussed ways to boost trade and investment between the two countries, particularly in sectors where Egyptian companies have expertise.
The Presidents also discussed regional issues, focusing on developments in the Red Sea. They highlighted the need for de-escalation and emphasized the urgency of a ceasefire in Gaza to facilitate humanitarian aid delivery and support for the two-state solution for Palestine.
They also talked about the situation in the Horn of Africa, emphasizing the importance of respecting Somalia’s sovereignty and rejecting any actions that undermine it. The situation in Sudan was also a topic of discussion.
Both Presidents stressed the importance of working together to find solutions to crises, particularly in neighboring countries, to end humanitarian suffering and achieve security, stability, and development.
