President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has emphasized the importance of district leaders focusing on promoting politics of interest for the prosperity of Ugandans. He highlighted that after independence, Uganda faced numerous challenges due to leaders wrongly diagnosing the issues affecting citizens.
Speaking to 472 district leaders at the conclusion of a Transformational Leadership Development Course at the National Leadership Institute in Kyankwanzi, President Museveni noted that the National Resistance Movement (NRM) properly diagnosed Uganda’s problems and established core principles to address them.
He explained that patriotism, pan-Africanism, socio-economic transformation, and democracy are essential for the prosperity of Ugandans. The President exemplified the need for unity and a focus on national development rather than tribal or religious identity.
President Museveni also highlighted the importance of external markets for Uganda’s products and encouraged leaders to promote wealth creation through initiatives like the four-acre-model for agriculture. He emphasized the need for leaders to prioritize infrastructure development and utilize resources effectively.
Throughout the event, various leaders expressed gratitude for the training and reaffirmed their commitment to serving their communities better. The event was attended by government officials, Members of Parliament, and other key stakeholders.
