The Fifty-Seventh Regular Session of the Human Rights Council Scheduled for September 9 – October 11, 2024

The fifty-seventh regular session of the United Nations Human Rights Council is scheduled to take place from 9 September to 11 October 2024 at the Palais des Nations in Geneva.

Opening at 10 a.m. on Monday, 9 September, and presided over by Ambassador Omar Zniber from Morocco, the session will feature an address by the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk. The Council will convene in room XX at the Palais des Nations.

Throughout the session, there will be 30 interactive dialogues with Special Procedures mandate holders, expert mechanisms, and investigative mechanisms. These dialogues will cover various topics and include discussions on countries like Nicaragua, Myanmar, Ukraine, Honduras, and Haiti.

Additionally, there will be panel discussions on promoting economic, social, and cultural rights, quality education for peace and tolerance, and other important themes. Reports and updates on human rights situations in different countries will also be presented.

The session will conclude with the consideration of outcomes from the Universal Periodic Review of several states and the appointment of mandate holders and members of the Advisory Committee.
